Getting There
From Tunceli
By car or taxi
Setting out from central Tunceli, the site lies about 40 kilometres away along the Tunceli–Pertek road. The journey takes 30–35 minutes on average, depending on traffic.
By public transport
You can take the Pertek minibuses that depart from the Tunceli central bus station or from the district minibus stops. Once you reach the centre of Pertek, the mosque is a short walk away.
The area can also be reached via the Çemişgezek–Pertek ferry crossing on the Keban Dam reservoir, though the road is more commonly used for direct travel from the centre.
From Elazığ
By car and ferry
Heading north from central Elazığ, you reach the Elazığ–Pertek ferry pier after about 25–30 kilometres. Boarding the Pertek ferry with your vehicle, you cross the Keban Dam reservoir in 15–20 minutes and arrive at the pier on the Pertek shore.
From the pier, the mosque in the district centre is a short drive away. Excluding time spent waiting for the ferry, the whole journey averages 45–50 minutes.
Once you reach the centre of Pertek, the Çelebiağa and Sungurbey mosques are easy to find by following the signposts within the district.
Pertek Castle
The castle stands on an island in the middle of the Keban Dam reservoir. Travelling by road, you can approach it by following the signposts once you reach the boundaries of Pertek district. Because the castle sits on the shoreline and on the island itself, local transport options and boat or raft services for the final stretch vary by season.
